Ideally situated midway between Lake Macquarie and Port Stephens, two hours from Sydney and close to its own major airport, Newcastle Harbour is a destination in itself for fishos.

Fish must be caught during tournament times within a 15km radius from Tournament Base, which takes in much of the Local Government Area boundaries of City of Newcastle.

As shown in the accompanying diagram, this extends south along the coastline to Glenrock Lagoon and north to Stockton Beach. Also included are Newcastle Harbour, Fullerton Cove, Throsby Basin and the North and South Arms of the Hunter River to Hexham Bridge.

It includes a mix of beach, breakwall, rock, estuary and offshore fishing

Boats must be launched and retrieved, or moored overnight, in Newcastle Harbour.
